Creating original paths
Designed to stimulate the creativity of ushers, the wooden volumes can be used in a variety of ways. Firstly, as holds in their own right. But they can also be used to completely change the structure and relief of the climbing wall, both aesthetically and in terms of difficulty, by changing the slope of the wall. Some models are designed to adapt to each other, adding to the originality and complexity of the route.
Types of volume and their characteristics
Wooden climbing frames are made from plywood and coated with abrasive paint or resin with sand added to provide a good grip. They come in a variety of geometric shapes, with angular or flat grips.
Volx wooden volumes come in a range of geometric shapes and sizes, from S to XXL. They offer the possibility of reaching great lengths while remaining relatively light. The big advantage of the Volx wood climbing system is that you can attach other holds to it to open up unique routes.
What type of holds can be attached to climbing frames?
The addition of climbing holds will depend on the shape of the volumes. You can choose classic holds in polyester or polyurethane, in small or medium sizes, and with different types of grip. But on large volumes, it's also possible to attach fibreglass or polyurethane macros for a more extreme climbing experience.
We also offer holds or macros in Dual Texture that are compatible with wood volumes. Dual Texture consists of applying a smooth paint to part of the PU holds, without any adhesion, making the surface slippery and difficult to use. From a technical point of view, this type of hold requires much more precise and technical climbing. But they are also holds with a brilliant, attractive design.
How do you attach climbing holds to volumes?
The surfaces of the volumes are flat and equipped with inserts for screwing in all types of sockets. CHC galvanised steel screws are used.
The addition of a wood screw guarantees the socket's stability and prevents it from rotating accidentally, thereby avoiding the risk of falling or injury.
Wear resistance
The wooden sections are coated and then covered with wear-resistant paint, making them durable and suitable for intensive use. Their longevity means that the combinations and interlocking of the fixed holds can be changed over time to renew the configuration of the climbing gym walls.
Can wooden volumes be repaired?
Over time, wooden climbing frames wear out. But it is possible to repair climbing frames on 3 levels:
-
Recreating the original grain to restore the original grip.
-
By filling in wood screw holes.
-
You can also choose the colour of the retexturing
